Moderator of the Church of Scotland meets Scottish party leaders

The annual visit of the Moderator to the Scottish Parliament took place last month with visits to all the Scottish party leaders including the First Minister.

Topics discussed included housing and homelessness, climate change and energy policy, the closure of Job Centres in Glasgow, refugee integration in Scotland and the Westminster Government’s decision to scrap the proposal to welcome 3000 unaccompanied children.

The visit included lunch with the Presiding Officer, Ken McIntosh MSP, and presenting Time for Reflection in the Debating Chamber. While in the Parliament the Moderator also observed the Rural Economy and Connectivity Committee in action as it took evidence on the Climate Change Plan.

During the visit, Christina McKelvie MSP hosted a reception for the Moderator on the theme of Homelessness, which welcomed representatives from churches, Third Sector charities, a number of people with lived experience of homelessness, and representatives from Crossreach, the social care arm of the Church of Scotland.
