Taiwanese delegates visit the Scottish Parliament

Delegates from the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan have met with MSP Clare Adamson at the Scottish Parliament to discuss the politics in both countries.

Rev Dr Cheng Yang-en and Mrs Ming-Min Lin Cheng, chairperson of the Ecumenical Advisory Group of the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan (PCT) Women’s Ministry Committee  from the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan, met MSP Clare Adamson at the Scottish Parliament last month with Alan Miller, Asia convener of the Church of Scotland World Mission Council; and Sandy Sneddon, Asia Secretary at the Church of Scotland World Mission Council.

They discussed the role that the Taiwan Cross Pary Group plays in the Scottish Parliament and Ms Adamson’s personal experience of the country. The visitors also raised the issue of China blocking Taiwan from taking part in the World Health Association meeting in Geneva this month, and other ways that Taiwan is excluded from international bodies.
